The flow pattern may be captured within the form but it is the connection with the onlooker that is key for me.

I am a glass artist working with and exploring the properties of kiln-formed glass as a material often with reference to a biological theme.

Glass is a fascinating material with unique properties. I approach my work in a methodical and scientific way to push these properties to the full. Yet I also want my outcomes to be seen on a different level, beyond materiality. I want to find beauty in the finished piece, and I want to invoke engagement with the viewer.

My current work explores flow patterns in cast glass. By learning about and controlling the viscosity of glass, I am creating novel and intriguing patterns. These patterns of flow were initially inspired by blood flow in the human body but have moved beyond this to inform flow in a variety of contexts both in the natural world and in human psychology.

I live and work in Surrey. My first degrees were in medicine and genetics. I have now moved from practicing medicine to art. In 2023 I completed a Master of Arts degree in Glass (Distinction) at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.
